In my last post I shared about how looks aren't everything when it comes to creating a website. Again, it doesn't do any good to have a great looking website that doesn't achieve it's goal. In this article I'm going to be sharing on what you really should be looking for in a website.
Almost fifteen years ago when I first started marketing on the web I was just like most people. I thought if I could create a website, people would just automatically find it and start flocking to it by the drove. It didn't take long for me to find out it's quite the opposite. The truth, nobody comes to your website just because it's out there. You need to promote it. And when you finally get some people to actually come to your website you've got to make absolutely certain what they see on your web page captivates their attention.
One of the biggest mistakes I made when I fired up my first website was relying on a web designer. The guy I hired to do the job was great but there were a couple of fundamental problems that just can't be solved by hiring a web designer. First, I had to communicate with him what I was looking to do with my page. You see, I'd get feedback from the people who came to my page, I'd hear the types of questions that would arise, and think I'd like to address those on my website. However when I went to the web designer I'd have a hard time explaining to him where I wanted those things to appear and communicating the hierarchy of the information. To get something I was willing to put before an audience would require a lot of back and forth.
The next problem I had was the time it took to get changes made to may website. I was just starting out, there was no way I could afford to keep a full time web guy on staff. So I hired on an as needed basis. That meant the guy who was working on my website was also working on many others. That translated in to long wait times to see even a few minor changes. The process sometimes took weeks. In the meanwhile I was spending money for advertisements to get people to come to my site. So while I was waiting to for the changes my audience demanded, I was still spending money to get those people to come to a site where the information they're looking for wasn't being displayed.
Lastly, I had to be very selective about what I chose to tweak because hiring a web design person on a contract basis is expensive. So I tended not to experiment too much because each experiment would cost time and money. At the same time, to find the magic formula of things I need to display on my page would require a lot of experimenting. In the long run I ended up paying a lot of money to figure out what worked best on my webpages.
What you really need to solve all these problems is a website builder that let's you make realtime updates to your website, and doesn't require you to know anything technical like how to code. And that's what inspired me to create WebStarts. By allowing everyday people to ability to tweak their website in realtime without the aide of a web designer I knew they'd be more likely to tap into the internet economy and find success online.
With WebStarts you're able to do all the things that I paid tens of thousands of dollars to have done, for around a hundred dollars. WebStarts literally lowered the bar to entry for people to succeed online. With WebStarts you can drag and drop things where you want to appear, and keep track what's working best. This helps people make the most out of their website. The best part about WebStarts is you don't have to pay anything to try it. We provide you a way to create a free website. Sign up today and give it a whirl.
