Sell More By Providing More Choices

It is scientifically proven that people are more likely to purchase more when they have more options. Human nature is to purchase an amount relative to what is available. This simple reason is why you should be offering more products or services in your WebStarts shopping cart.

There are several ways to offer more choices to your customers and you'll want to weigh your options carefully. Simply providing more options is not going to be enough. If you are providing too many options for a particular product or providing too many products in the first place, you may disorient your customer and distract them from the purchase you want them to make in the first place. Here are a few ways I suggest offering additional choices to your customers_

1. Upsell

Upselling is offering additional products during the sales or checkout process. It is very simply bringing your more expensive products or options to the customer's attention. With your free website, you can always create a product page that highlights the features and advantages of the more expensive option. If you're selling shirts, right before the customer checks out, show them the higher quality shirts that cost a little bit more... chances are, if the price is not that much more, they will go with the more expensive item.

2. Cross sale

Cross selling is offering different products or services, usually related, when the customer is purchasing a product or service. In the above example, when a customer is purchasing one of your shirts, you would offer them the matching hat or shoes. This will give the customer a chance to look at your other products without distracting from the original purchase, if done properly. Using your WebStarts website builder, you can have a 'related products' section to showcase some of the similar products, or 'cross sales', to your customers when they are purchasing a product.

3. Post-sale coupons or offers

Many times, giving the customer a coupon or limited time offer after they've purchased a product will encourage them to come back again and purchase more products. For example, when a customer purchases one of your shirts, use the autoresponder software from the WebStarts shopping cart to send them an exclusive offer to purchase one of your products at 30% off the normal price for a limited time only. This will create a sense of urgency for the customer to purchase a new product and it will get them excited about what you're offering... both great things.

These are just a few examples of getting more options for your products and services to get more sales in the end. Don't be afraid to get creative and use all of the tools in your free website builder to offer more options and get more sales today.
