Increase Converstion Rates - Don't Let Web Traffic Get Distracted

In many ways marketing products and services online is much more difficult than traditional, in person, face to face marketing. One of the many challenges you must overcome as an internet marketer is the distraction factor. In our modern lives at any given moment we're prone to distraction. Whether it be our cell phone, tv, instant messanger, Facebook, or whatever. We've all done it. We've all been in the middle of a task and suddenly noticed a new email coming to our inbox or a new Facebook notification. We then scramble away from what we're doing to address that notification never to make our way back to the task that was at hand. One of the keys to increasing conversion rates on your website is to minimize the chances your web traffic will get distracted. You can do this by following some simple rules.

1. Launch new windows for links that take visitors away from your website.

If you're promoting an affiliate program or have some other link on your site you want your visitor to click you should always make it launch a new browser window. This will leave your original website open in their browswer and allow them to visit the link . That way when they're done consuming the content and close the window your site will still be open and sitting in front of their face. Many times those who navigate away from a website never make it back simply because they don't remember the name of the website to begin with.

2. Try to avoid putting ads on your site.

Unless your site strictly relies on selling ad space I don't recommend placing ads on your website. If you're selling your own products and services you'll want to keep your site visitors engaged. Putting ads on your website may seem like a good way to supplement your income but ultimately you're going to lose visitors to those ads (which are usually less relevant) and in turn send would be purchasers into the abyss.

3. Get their contact information.

However possible get your site visitors connect information. If you fail to get someone's contact information you're allowing them to leave the site and they're most likely to never come back. There are simply just too many website on the internet, people are too busy, and they won't remember how to get back to your website. If you gather at least their email address by offering them something of perceived value in exchange for that information you'll be able to send them emails reminding them you exists and providing them with a way to contact you again.
