One of the most common questions I'm asked is how to get more web traffic. A lot of people think they'll just throw a website up and people will immediately start to come to it. It couldn't be further from the truth. Getting web traffic is one of the hardest aspects of running an online business. In this article I'll briefly cover some of the best ways you can get more web traffic to your site.

Search Engines

Everyone knows Google is the most popular search engine. To get more web traffic to your website you'll need to play well with Google. That means creating a ton of keyword rich and compelling content on a regular basis. You can do this by starting a blog or just creating a lot of pages on your website.

To rank well on Google and get more web traffic you'll also need to do some search engine optimization. In it's most basic form this means you'll have to include the keywords that people use to look for products and services like yours on the web in your page title, description, and in the content of your website.

Youtube Videos

Youtube is one of the best places you can get more web traffic. By creating interesting videos about your products and services you can drive a lot of new traffic to your website. In fact, if Youtube was it's own search engine it would control about 15% of the search market. So a well optimized and interesting Youtube video can get your a lot more web traffic.

Just remember while creating and uploading your Youtube videos to include a link back to your website in the description, to put your targeted keywords into the description and tags of the video, and if possible include a watermark in your video with your website name included.

Facebook

Just about everyone online has a Facebook account and the average Facebook user checks in multiple times per day. You can get more web traffic by creating an engaging Facebook page for your business and also by building out your own personal online profile. Never under estimate the power of your own connections. Encourage the people who your friends with on Facebook to like and share your content. The more people who see your content the more web traffic will come to your website.
