Google Maps For iPhone Hits 10 Million Downloads

Google Maps on iPhone 5
When Apple launched iOS 6 there was quite an uproar about Apple's maps and navigation function. Some users and mainly members of the media complained Apple's maps app was not as good as Google Maps. I personally find Apple's map and navigation app to be better than any Google offering but for those of you who prefer to use Google Maps rest assured the new Google Maps app for iPhone was launched just a few days ago and has already reached 10 million downloads.

The new Google Maps for iPhone brings the most popular features people have been using on Android devices for years over to the iOS6 platform. This includes Google's popular navigation system with turn by turn directions, public transportation routes, and street view. It seems people who use the iPhone have been waiting in the wings for the app. The 10 million downloads have sent the app skyrocketing to the top downloads section in the App Store.

Apple has been said to working with companies like Fouresquare to improve their maps experience. Foursquare is a popular mobile app who collects data on local businesses allowing users's to earn achievements by checking in. Apple's hope is to improve their app and win users back who may have defected to Google Maps.
