Running an effective email campaign is a critical part of any online business. Email is the most efficient way to keep in communication with your customers and remind them who you are and what you're all about. But if your emails never get delivered they'll never be read and your email campaign will fail. So here are three things you can do to make sure your email gets delivered to your customer's inbox.
1. Avoid spammy language
Many bulk emails filters are nothing more than content filters. That means they look for spammy terms within the content of the email. If they find them - they block them. If you're not sure what spammy terms are just look in your junk mail folder and read some emails. They're things like "Huge discount" "Click here to buy it now" and of course a number of terms I deem inappropriate for this blog.
2. Mail to good email addresses
One of the fastest ways to get your mail blocked is to send to email addresses that are undeliverable. When you mail to an email address that doesn't exist it tells spam filters you have not validated the email address and most likely don't have permission to mail to it. The best thing you can do to avoid this is have your subscribers verify they'd like to be on your list before you ever start mailing to them.
3. Give your subscribers an easy way out
If someone is in your list and they don't remember subscribing or just don't want to belong to your list anymore give them an easy way to unsubscribe either at the top or bottom of your emails. This will help reduce the number of people who click the dreaded "Report As Spam" button. If you get too many people reporting you as spam all your email will be blocked.
