If you haven't already setup a mailing list for your online business you best get busy doing so. Sending email to your leads is critical for converting your site visitors into customers. Most people won't buy from your website the first time they stop bye so you're going to have to figure out a clever way to get their contact information. For most companies that starts by asking for an email address. Once you have have that email address however it can still be tricky to get your prospects to read the email. Here are a few things you can do to increase the chance your email will be read.
1. Use a personalized subject line to get the email opened.
If someone receives your email but they never open it - it won't get read. You're going to need a compelling subject line. One thing you should do is try to personalize the subject line by including your prospects name or some other piece of unique information you have about the prospect.
2. Use a slightly larger than average font size in your email.
People receive lots of emails and they quickly scan to see which are worth reading and which are not. By including a slightly larger than normal font size the email will be easier on the eyes and therefore more likely to be read. Be careful though - if you make your font too big it could get blocked by a spam filter.
3. Keep it short and sweet
Because people are scanning their emails it's very important you keep your emails as short as possible while still packing some punch. Try to limit your emails to a paragraph with a few bullet points and a clear call to action and be sure to surround everything will plenty of whitespace.
