Facebook and Twitter have become powerful vehicles for driving traffic to websites. Facebook is quickly overtaken Google as the most visited site on the web and Twitter is not far behind. Leveraging these technologies to drive traffic to your website however can be a bit tricky. Today I'm going to share with you the best times to make posts and tweets and why.
1. The best time to Tweet is around 5pm Eastern on the weekend.
The reason being the majority of the US population lives in either the Eastern or Central time zone. People naturally have more time for social activity on the weekends because they're busy at work during the weekdays. So your best chance of getting your post read on Twitter is 5pm on the weekend. If you can't do the weekend you should try posting around 5pm Eastern on the weekday.
2. The best time to post something to Facebook is Saturday at noon Eastern.
Similar to the best time to tweet mentioned above. More people are checking their Facebook accounts on the weekend and most people live in the Eastern or Central time zones. Posting on Facebook Saturday around noon should give you optimum clickthrough to your website.
3. It's best to tweet 1 to 4 times per hour but only post on Facebook every other day.
Statistics show Twitter followers are more likely to click on your links if you post one to four times per hour but only once every other day on Facebook. Facebook is more touchy because it's perceived to be a private space. As always make sure your posts are valuable and engaging regardless of the frequency.
